Post Hi John, Reply with quote
The pics are great. Tad is growing right in front of our eyes, and he is such a darling child. Oh yes, and I remember you well from the way you looked in school, but you seemed to have grown taller after graduation! The same thing happened with Bill Whaley, and it surprised the heck out of me when I met him after college.

John, you are always smiling in the pics and whenever I see you. One of my psych. patients once said to me, "I don't know how you can always smile and be so nice to us all of the time." That seems to be your way in life, too.

I have to hurry to get ready for an appointment, so I will try to write more later. Where are JC, Jim, Joe & Laile, Don and all the rest of the crew? A long dry spell since we heard from them.

Hugs,

Jenny

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone?
Girls have picked them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young girls gone?
Taken husbands every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Covered with flowers every one
When will we ever learn?
When will we ever learn?

Reading the lyrics almost brings tears to my eyes. It is so true that everything changes and the only constant in our lives are the changes. Some hold to truths, some invent truth to fit their own memory of events, some just fail to maintain many of the things in life that are precious. If it can be replaced with something, then it is of no true value to your life.

Hugs ,

Oh yes, we are in the middle of a toad strangler thunderstorm. I love it.

Luv ya gurl,

John

Post Thunderstorms and Friends Reply with quote
I hope that the thunder storm wasn't so nasty that it got John tipping the bourbon til he hasn't been awake yet. We are due for storms here tonight, but thus far, none. I don't have any bourbon to tip anyway! Ha.

Today I made it to the 3/4 century mark. The kids made a great lasagna, salad and garlic bread dinner, then a German choc. cake with 5 candles on it. I really don't know what that signified, but I had trouble just blowing out that many candles! I guess it was their way of telling me that I would never have been able to blow out 75 candles before they burned out!

Lawrence called and asked if I ever thought we would make it to a three quarters of a century mark and also to remind me that I am older than he is. His birthday is Friday.

I also got phone calls from Norm and Jim Parsons. Jim got me a picture of Sunset Carson, my girlhood crush from the western movies. He had been to another Gene Autry gathering at Kenton. Jim has several physical problems that he will be addressing in the near future, but he is the same happy, delightful guy with whom I grew up.
We had a great visit and talked about our growing up with his brothers and his mother. He also asked about all of you and the rest of the class with whom I keep in touch.

I also had a nice card and note from Anne Barker. She likes to hear about our class, too, and enjoyed reading my e-mail about the dinner and Gerry's memorial. She said that she was very familiar with the cemetery and that part of town. Her Girl Scout group went there every year to help clean up. Anne lived right across the street from the high school.

Well, Jim Sheldon, it's nice to hear from you again, I hope that you, too, did not have so much fun and beer with your son that you didn't find your way home! I really am glad that someone is giving you a rest from your care giving. It can just exhaust you both physically and emotionally, and it is sad to see one we love deteriorate so quickly.

I finally got some nice tomatoes from the Ohio river. There is a man who has a stand between Athens and Albany, where I go to get my hair done, and he is always more reasonable than any in Athens. I got 6 nice, big tomatoes for $2.50. At the stand in Athens, they were asking $3.50 for 2 large ones. I REALLY have to plant my own garden next year. Too many things happened this year to delay my plans, but it would have been perfect with all of the rain we have been having!

Here I am bending your ears again, so I may just wait until someone else decides to bend mine!

So much for the Life of Riley.

Hugs,

Jenny
